What we brought in from September: 2 of Swords
Week 1: XII Hanged Man Week 2: 9 of Swords Week 3: 9 of Pentacles Week 4: VI Lovers How we end the month: Ace of Cup What we brought in from September
2 of Swords
We ended September ready to set off on a journey—we set an intention and launched! And yet, with each step there are decisions to be made. Our intention was clear and strong, so much so we are blind to the options that unfold as we progress. Choices that were non-existent when we began now are available, if we can see them. The blindness is for peace of mind—choices can be disruptive to the flow, but only when we are focused on the imagined destination and not on the here and now. We know the options we can see, but what are we missing? Just like the Moon that rules this card, even though it isn’t visible, it’s still there
What option(s) are available that am I unable to see?
Week 1
XII Hanged Man
We take a deep breath and surrender to the power of the journey and the miasma of the mystery. We can control our footfalls, but not our surroundings. We can control our responses to the situations we encounter, but not the situations themselves. Personal will and Divine Will come to meet; our ego vociferously justifying the need to know and be in control, Spirit listening patiently and with compassion and understanding. Spirit has an eternity of time, so It waits—It waits for ego to spin itself out and relinquish its need for control.
With what issue, or in which area of life am I being asked to surrender control?
Week 2
9 of Swords
Oh, the agony of old stories! And how difficult and painful it can be to review those core beliefs, based on what we have been fed in the past! We must clear space for our newness, so we ‘Marie Kondo’ our thought closet. We are not our stories, or our thoughts or our feelings. And we are definitely not what others project upon us. The pain of this card lies in the realization we have subscribed to the traumas of others and have taken them on, believing somehow, they were ours. We have carried the suffering of others, and have learned from this valuable experience. Yet beliefs are changeable, and beg to be changed as we grow. It is very difficult to fulfill our potential while reliving the self-limiting psychological paradigms others have laid upon us. And the ones ready to be transformed are the ones with the loudest voices in our minds now. So, we give them a different expression, in our own words, written in our own hand.
Which of my stories has withered and is ready to be rewritten?
Week 3
9 of Pentacles
The release of the old has opened us to greater possibilities, maybe even created a vacuum. We must step up and determine how this little void might be filled, for this is a choice only we can make. If we fill ourselves with someone else’s ideas of abundance and well-being, we are renewing our subscription to limitation, sacrificing our free will for the perspectives and values of another. This is a card of active acquisition and manifesting our desires on the physical plane. We are realizing our dreams and wishes. It is interesting to see just what we have created—is it what we intended to create? Or are the dregs of last week’s stories still dictating our ‘shoulds’ and ‘ought tos?’ For the energy of this card to serve us well, we must be aware of what we want, without trying to figure out how we will get it. To co-create our realities and co-manifest our dreams we must be intimately familiar with our deepest desires, and trust the power of the Self in collaboration with the power of the Universe.
What do I really want?
Week 4
VI Lovers
Now we are beginning to not only understand the balance between two forces, but also are learning to play with it. We feel, sense our role as the co-creator and take it on with joy and anticipation. Even as we stand in solitude, we are not alone. The tension of the polarity of old and new, suffering and liberation, scarcity and abundance becomes the playground of creative artistry. The stress and strain of opposites are the artist’s brushes waiting to be picked up. We move toward the easel and feel something holding us back. The work of creating art—the art of living—requires a commitment, and commitment often translates into sacrifice. We let go of something so we may reach for something greater. It is not loss or sacrifice—it is moving beyond the former self to become the new self.
What do I believe I must give up to have what I want?
How we end the month
Ace of Cups
Our work has paid off—the fulfillment we feel is a result of our focus and attention on our best selves. We understand we are the creators of our own happiness and well-being. Our Highest Self is wrapping their great loving arms around us and is whispering beautiful words of praise and encouragement in our ears. We have the smallest glimpse of our unquantifiable value and great worth.
How will I take my value into the world?
